Wood Wine Bottle, Made From A Spar From The U. S. S. Constitution, 1797/1927

  

WOOD WINE BOTTLE, MADE FROM A SPAR FROM THE U. This is a very historic relic of the first decade of the United States Navy & dates back to 1794! It is an oak wine bottle was made from one of the original spars from the U. Constitution when the old frigate was rebuilt in the 1927/31.

Wilbur said that the restoration was to be financed from private funds (donations) This bottle is 13 tall & 3 ¾ in diameter & is 7 ¼ from the bottom to 2. Band where it curved inwards to be 1 ½ for the final 2 ¼ at the pouring spout. There are a pair of ½ bands in relief near the bottom & 2 more near the top.

The 1 ¾ spout is carved in relief as a band then curves outward to a 1 ¼ diameter flat top & has a 1 ½ diameter wood plug with a cord imbedded inside. The inside is bored out to fill with wine or other liquids. It is in very good condition with a 3 1/16 age crack on one side at the bottom & has a golden aged patina. It comes with a certificate of authenticity & historical research.
