This is a very fine and unique offering. This is a Wakasa-nuri lacquered low table from Japan. Wakasa lacquer is an 18 step process using eggshells, mother of pearl, pine needles, and more to create a unique finish that evokes images of the deep ocean and starry skies.
All of the 18 steps are done by a single artisan from start to finish. This table was brought here from Japan where it had resided for about 40 years. The table has black lacquered base, and spectacular patterned lacquered top.
The colors are fine, its just the clear finish. Of course this is not visible at all with the glass top it came with (not in pictures).
