Rare Primitive Pintail Duck Decoy On Wheels Folk Art From Historic GA 1840's Plantation Home. This amazing hand carved primitive piece was acquired in August of 2022 at the estate sale of the William S. Simmons Plantation in Cave Spring, Georgia. The plantation home was built in the 1840's and is currently on the National Registry of Historic Places. The decoy is believed to be from the late 1800's and it is approx 10" long, 6" tall and 4.5 wide.
It features wooden, hand-nailed axels, wooden wheels and glass eyes. There is a metal eye-hook on the lower chest for attaching a string and a weathered cotton strap wraps the back/breast section of the duck. Imperfections include a split on the front-right wheel and a split on the back axle right side, both shown in photos-The duck still rolls. A charming piece of art and wonderful conversation starter.
