Papua New Guinea Mask from Estate

  

This expressive mask was hanging on my parents' apartment walls since they visited Papua New Guinea in the 1990's. The wood is dark toned but there is evidence of some old red ocher paint left in the incised areas of the face, like around the eyes. It measures 2' long and 9" wide and 4 " deep. It has a fiber trim that is carefully stitched to the mask as seen in the pictures. Thank you for your interest.
