Original Painted Cupboard Dated 1835 from Sweden. The paint and finish on this wonderful cupboard dated 1835 is all original, revealing its Swedish country roots. Everything about this painted cabinet hold to the traditional styles found in Sweden in the 1800's. The 4 paneled doors all have a teal (blue/green) painted background with a colorful spray of flowers in red. The folk-art style of the period was to paint a stylized "wood" looking finish on pine pieces, as seen in the earthtone base of this cupboard. Notice the big planks of wood that form the back; the age related separation simply occurs over time, and does not impact the strenght or solidity of the cabinet. The wear, nicks and scratches are consistent with the age of the piece but do not detract from its functionality. Dimensions: 53w x 18.5d x 77h.
