Vintage Teak Danish Writing Desk by Borge Mogensen. This desk is just so lovely in person! The teak is warm and soulful, the details are just exactly right.

131, quintessential Danish design by master Børge Mogensen for Søborg Mobelfabrik. It is fully finished on the back, so it does not need to be pushed against a wall.

Marked "Made in Denmark" and with sticker residue from the Søborg label. This desk is in excellent vintage condition with only very minor signs of wear. Drawers can be moved to left side. 39.375" wide x 23.75" deep x 25.675 high.

Knee space measures 19.875" wide x 24.675" high. This desk was brought back from Denmark by my father when he visited Viggo Kampmann, Prime Minister of Denmark in 1961. This desk fits great were smaller desk space is needed. In all of the houses I have this desk fit well in my bedroom, dining room, kitchen and den. This desk has warm and modern look to this day. If your a BIG Messy desk person like me needing two large desks side-by-side this desk is not for you: I will miss this eye catching piece of Art and great memories of Denmark. Borge Mogensen is a great Danish designer from the 20th Century. He participated to the recognition of the Danish design furniture in the world.

Mogensen is famous for the design of functional and simple pieces of furniture. He designed very beautiful and elegant pieces: the 2254 armchair (the 1960s), the 2207 lounge chair (the 1960s), the Sleighchair 2254 (the 1950s).

Borge Mogensen was born in Denmark in 1914. He started his career by training as a cabinet maker, then he studied furniture design at the School of Arts and Crafts in Copenhagen until 1938.

Then, he studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Arts. He worked in several studios and became responsible for the FDB design workshop. In 1959, he quit his job and founded his own studio. He created many furniture ranges for Soborg Mobelfabrik, Frederica Stolefabrik and Karl Andersson & Soner. He quickly met with great success: his pieces were exhibited in Zurih, New-York, Paris, London He received several rewards such as the Eckersberf Medals in 1950.
