For sale is an exquisite and sophisticated sculpture by the highly regarded world renowned Mexican Sculptor Ana Thiel b. Provenance: Estate of Renowned Gallerist Marcuse "Cusie" Pfeifer (1936 -2020). The sculpture features a split wood form with a blackened surface char injected with a wedge of molten glass in the forms vertical crevice. Set on a formed metal base. Signed and dated 2013 on the molten glass.

The sculpture comes with a hand signed book of her life and works. Dedicated to "Cusie" Pfeifer (see pic).

Also with the inventory folder of works from the traveling exhibition "Estratos Del Sur" which features this work in the exhibition. A beautiful sculpture that commands a presence and encourages a deep discussion in a collection of art. Height - 14 3/4 (approximately). Width - 10 (at base).

Edith - 3 1/2 (approximately). Ana Thiel questions the future of mankind, our presence in the world and our relationship with the environment. Her retrospective exhibition Layers of Being traveled around Mexico, her native country, the US and Europe, sponsored by the Mexican Foreign Ministry.

The book Ana Thiel, Coming Out from the Depths was published in celebration of this exhibition. Among numerous awards and recognitions, she has twice been honored by a fellowship from the Mexican Council for the Arts, given to artists of high merit who have also contributed significantly to culture, and in 2006 she received First Prize at the Latin American Biennial of Art in Glass from the Museum of Glass and the National Council for the Arts in Mexico. She has been invited as a resident artist by countries such as Japan, Spain, France, Egypt, the Czech Republic and the US. Her work forms part of public collections such as the Bibliotheca Alexandrina in Egypt, the Université Libre de Bruxelles, Belgium; the Riihimaki Lasimuseet, Finland; Musverre, France; Alexander-Tutsek Stiftung, Germany; Ebeltoft, Denmark; MAVA, Spain; and Marinha Grande, Portugal; the Corning and the Tacoma Glass Museums in the USA; the Museo Universitario de Ciencias y Artes, and the Museo de la Cancillería in Mexico City, the MACAY in Yucatán, the Museo de Arte de Querétaro, the Museo del Pueblo in Guanajuato, and the Centro Cultural Nigromante en San Miguel de Allende, in Mexico among others.

Combining her Industrial Design background with years of experience in glass and mixed media, Ana Thiel also creates site-specific sculptures and glass murals. In conjunction with her artistic activity, Thiel has served on art museum and art association boards in leadership as well as advisory positions. She teaches workshops and offers lectures on art, creativity, and sculpture at conferences and simposiums as well as at universities and cultural institutions all around the world.
