A Sincere Word of Caution from your Host, The Phantom Curator- Please Read Before Proceeding. This store occasionally features objects and artifacts- collected on an ongoing basis, from many sources around the world- that are alleged to be either haunted and/or possessing supernatural or paranormal characteristics. This item falls into that category.

I have been a professional artist and collector for over 50 years, with a special interest in objects and artifacts of this kind. I do not pretend to be an expert or professional researcher on the paranormal, only a dedicated student and amateur scholar/historian with an interest in exploring the unusual and the unknown. I do not consider myself particularly superstitious, and have not had any dramatic encounters with the supernatural, other than perhaps the handful of unexplained incidents that any average person might experience in the course of a lifetime. I do not profess to have special gifts or sensitivity to supernatural auras, imprints, or hauntings of objects or places; however, as an open-minded individual I do believe that such imprints could possibly- and probably do- exist, and that there are individuals who could possibly- and probably do- possess unusual sensitivities to more readily detect and feel them.

With respect to this and other items offered in The Haunted Gallery that are purported to posses supernatural characteristics, I wish to emphasize that I make no claims or guarantees- based on my own personal experience- with respect to their paranormal qualities. Aside from their histories and reputations- which I endeavor to relate with as much detail and accuracy as possible- I do not attempt to test & verify the psychic power, energy or imprint of every item, nor do I wish to. And- with what I feel to be a prudent precaution when dealing with any type of unknown characteristic- I do not store this or any other items of paranormal reputation in my home, but, rather, in a special storage facility.

I do not wish in any way to cause distress or harm to anyone purchasing these types of items, so please read & consider the history of this item thoroughly and then proceed with caution and careful consideration. Thank you for stopping by... And enjoy your visit to The Haunted Gallery. This is a vintage 1930's era wheelchair manufactured by the.

Joseph, Missouri, in 2007, who had obtained it from the St. Joseph State Hospital many years before, where he told me it was used for transporting- and occasionally restraining- patients. He told me he used it in his shop primarily as a window display & conversation piece, and that- over the years- many customers would comment about the oddness of it and that merely looking at it would make them feel uneasy.

It was for this reason that he eventually moved it out of the main window and into his storage area. It was here- in this back storage area- that the reputation of this chair took a darker turn. According to him, employees and occasional visitors who sat in the chair for a prolonged period of time would often experience sudden, intense feelings of paranoia, claustrophobia, and even dread. Such was the reputation of this particular piece that many of his employees- particularly the younger ones- avoided it altogether and even refused to work alone- day or night- with the chair in the room. After this chair changed owners in 2007, it was used as a featured prop in "The Theatre of the Dead" Haunted Attraction in St.
