Antique fancy tapered mortar and pestle set from lignum vitae 4 LB 12.9 OZ. This is a museum quality set with some old damage to the pestle. It could well be an 18. The mortar wood and pestle wood are a perfect match.
They were produced from old growth, thick, lignum vitae wood two hundred years ago more or less. The wood itself is dense, highly figured, dark and heavy.
