Drums are called em, eme, im, imi, kiendo, and taimpe. Carved wood with lizard skin held on with a cane band. A typically fine example in good condition. Most items were collected by ourselves while we were living and working in Papua New Guinea in the 1980's.
We are now downsizing from our large old farmhouse to something more manageable for our age. Some carvings have signs of wear and tear due to age.
Some have cracking which occurs as a result of taking items from the tropics to a colder, drier environment. Please take a look at our other items from Africa, India, Papua New Guinea, Irian Jaya, Bali, and Burma.
