ARGENTINE KNIFE FROM MODIFIED M1891 ARGENTINE BAYONET This knife is a modification of a Mauser Modelo Argentino 1891 Bayonet to a knife, it wasn't a regulation or military knife, but it was common to modify in the regimental arsenals, for military personnel, the old bayonets not longer in service, into a knife for daily use and combat knife eventually. The blade was shortened and sharpened (some few small dents on edge), the handle grips were changed to a hardwood ones with aluminium rivets, and the ring and the handguard quilion were cut. The fixing mechanism was conserved. The M1891 Mauser bayonet was from the oldes "A" serial (A4568), so it had bronze grips. It is still marked with several original german: On right ricazzo: "MODELO ARGENTINO 1891", with the Argentine coat of arms and A4568 serial. On left ricazzo "WEYERSBERG KIRSCHBAUM & CO SOLINGEN" On the handguard "R", "P" "Cx" and "T".

On the pommel it has the "RA" almost erased and on the spine "Ax". Another small stamp with the letter "N" appears on the mechanism button. The scabbard is from a argentinian FM made FAL A bayonet with serial 32387, it retains 50% of factory parkerized and a bit of original black paint close to the throat, that was enlarged to fit the Mauser 1891 blade, which is wider and thicker than a Fal A blade. Total length 292 mm - 11-1/2" Blade length 171 mm - 6-3/4".

Width 25 mm - 1. Thickness 6.5 mm - 1/4" Handguard Thickness 8 mm - 5/16" Handle lenght 114 mm - 4-1/2.
