Antique Wood Horse from India 40 Tall Amazing!!! This is a family item for many years, with many extended visits to many places of interest in India. The quality of this sculpture, and the meticulous design application make for a moment in the motion of the horse. I saw one just like this at the Smithsonian many years ago, as well as in my travels in India. It was made at the peak of a high level artisanship period. I cannot attest to the time period, but it appears to be very old. Some pieces, such as the ears and buttons have been glued in place. It is truly a classic work of art. In its time, it was plastered and brightly painted as a devotional decoration. The sculpture comes with the pictured wood base. The painted stand is also available.
