Antique Wood Bowl From Italy Hand Painted 1800's 6

  

This old bowl was found while cleaning out my uncle's attic. His father had made a note on the bottom that it had been brought over by his relatives from Sicily in 1887. I tried to clean the writing off the bottom and got most of it off but you can still make out the words island of Sicily. From Italy" and barely "1887. Its a great hand painted wood bowl that you can tell saw some use as whatever glaze was on it seems to show swirl marks and light scratches on the inside.

Perhaps it had a lid at one time? Measures approximately 6.25 across.
