Antique Original Folk Art Painted Armoire Wardrobe from Romania. This fabulous find is a perfect example of original Eastern European folk art paint of the 1800's. Notice the four blue hand-painted panels filled with colorful floral bouquets in vases.

The blue, green and yellow floral motif is echoed on the canted sides as well. Gaze to the upper bonnet to appreciate the portrait of a queen, complete with gold crown, red gown and holding a cross. While the words are difficult to decipher, the date of 1839 is clearly seen. The hand-painted faux wood background in brown was a traditional style of the era. Even the interior is unique; a hanging rod with 4 hand-carved hooks hangs on the right while 2 shelves with a single drawer are on the left.

The left door can be secured in place by using the original functioning iron latch. This wonderful wardrobe has been restored and waxed. While it shows expected age-related wear and distress, it is strong/stable and ready to be used and enjoyed.
