The charming flowers and wreathes on the front were a traditional folk art style of the period. The hinged seat with the paint slightly worn from years of use, lifts to reveal ample storage (divided into 2 sections) for blankets, quilts, or even shoes in a mud room.

Typical age-related separation of the planks that compose the base are strong and functional. Professionally restored and finished with a satin wax, the joints are tight and the hinged seat functions.
