OWN A PIECE OF YELLOWSTONE PARK HISTORY! I have owned these genuine Old Hickory (Martinsville, Indiana) chairs and rocker for about 35 years. Now, maybe, its your turn! They were originally from the Old Faithful Inn in Yellowstone National Park. Each chair has the Old Hickory Chair Co.
Martinsville, Indiana stamp on one of its legs (see photos). These chairs are at least 100 years old.
39.5 x 18 x 15. 36 (kind of at an angle) x 18 x 15.
When I bought them the chairs were in very good shape except for the seat weavings, which were all punched out and ruined. The back weavings were/are original and are in good shape. I had a local professional weaver restore the seats so that I could use the chairs, and had them painted white because the seat weaving color did not match the original back weaving color. I know, not what a true collector would do, but I was happy with the decision. The white paint has held up pretty good over the years but now there are some buffs and flaking.
My family and I have enjoyed using these chairs and the rocker for over 3 decades. They are in very good condition, sturdy and totally usable. There are no breaks/cracks in the legs or framework. The bones are definitely there; Im betting the chairs could almost certainly be restored to their original look if one were so inclined. Thank you so much for your interest!
