This is an Antique Greiner Style 9 Inch Milliners Model Papier Mache Wood Doll Original Dress Museum Deaccession. This doll is a museum deaccession from the Boxford, Massachusetts (Essex County) Historical Document Center Museum. She has a little museum tag to her dress #162.
This small 9 inch milliners model has wood carved arms and legs with a papier mache shoulder head. There is some here-and-there age crazing to the shoulderhead face and chest plate.
One front corner of the shoulderhead plate is missing (under the dress bodice) and there is a tiny ding to the tip of her nose with paint loss. Her black painted hair has brushwork/comb lines and vertical sausage curls around her head (some paint wear). The facial features include one stroke eyebrows, blue eyes with black pupils and white irises, a smiling bow-shape red mouth, red nose dots, a tiny double chin, and pink cheeks. There is age paint crazing to her face. The arms and legs are carved wood.
Please note: the left arm is shorter than the right so there probably is some repair there under the clothing. From what can be seen of the legs, they appear to be okay. The carved feet have unusual original bright yellow painted shoes. She wears her old handstitched clothing including a sheer blue print cotton dress with black velvet ribbon waist tie, and matching lace trimmed petticoat and pantaloons that appear original to the doll. There is aging to the fabric.
Accessories include a seed bead multi-strand necklace. She is a nice small size. Smoke and pet free home.
