Antique Giant Wooden Coffee Tea Pot Display from The Steaming Kettle, Boston c. Sensational antique giant wooden lidded coffee pot used as a display at Boston's Government Center historic The Steaming Kettle, circa 1920. The shop began as The Oriental Tea Company in 1873 and it erected a giant 227 gallon gilt copper steaming tea pot at the store's façade. The storefront then became a small café aptly named "The Steaming Kettle" which is now a Starbucks... But the giant steaming kettle remains!!!
Magnificent display piece of Boston's past will add charm and historical significance to any space with most any décor! Dimensions: Pot measures 20" high and 18" across spout and handle. Diameter at the top is 7-1/4" and 11-3/4" at the bottom. Weight is approximately 8 lbs. Condition: In excellent overall antique condition with light normal wear from age and use. Pot is heavy and sturdy. A small repair on the rim of the lid and several small chips on the end of the spout, as pictured.
