19th Century Antique primitive in good condition. It is a farmhouse dough box with traditional turned legs, cut skirt, dovetailed joinery and hand cut nails. The lid is one piece of wood. The body is probably cherry or walnut and heavy.
The lid is pine with large grain. It is in very good condition with wear and distressing from age and use.I have only used it as a display piece. It has minor seam seperation at the leg joints as seen in photos.
The box, not lid, was given a coat of varnish prior to my ownership. By the looks of it, I would say that was done in the late 19th or eary 20th century.
I have not attempted any restoration of the dough box. Measurements of box with lid: length- 35" width- 18" height- 28 1/2. Measurements inside the box: bottom length- 24 1/2" bottom width- 9" height- 12 1/2. Please review the photos for overall condition. Please send any question you have. I will be happy to provide additional information and photos if needed. This item is in the category "Antiques\Primitives".
