Lovely bentwood butter churn made by M. The Brown company of Wapakoneta, Ohio obtained a patent for their first bentwood churn in 1877. The patent was for a new way of forming the churn box from three pieces of wood, the center section of wood bent into the shade of a U, and the two ends. The churns were made in different sizes.

There were 3,4,6,9, and 12 gallon churns. This was the cream capacity for the churn. One cup of cream yields 1/2 cup of butter. This particular churn is a 6 gallon. I recall this churn being in my mother's home in Nebraska for at least 60 years.

Hope to find it a great new home. Located in the Dallas, Texas area, can discuss options to get the churn to you.
