Antique African Tribal Turkana Carved Bowl-Primitive-From Estate Lord McAlpine

  
Hand Carved from a burl this Turkana is clearly a gem-one of a kind. Early 1880's it's a miracle it stood the test of time. First let me tell you a little about Lord Alistair Baron McAlpine: British Politician, Businessman & Art Collector.

The man can be looked up online easily. His whole family was famous. I just have a slip from the dealer assuming this was a country grain bowl from his estate. They had so much items /research were getting overlooked!

The grain on so many of these sides is outstanding. It looks like a work of art! He was an art collector so I'm sure his ethnic art/sculptures were well curated. The inside has wear and please review photos carefully. There are splits and wood carved things going on. This was definitely used but I'm not certain if this should be cleaned. This Turkana vessel could have been used for milk or food. I do not believe the leather hoop was original. 7" long x 5" wide and 5 high.
