1500's Engraving of Biblical Battle of the Wood of Ephraim from Books of Samuel

  
Engraving is 6.25 x 4.5 inches and the total parchment is 11.75 x 9.5 inches. An interesting and very old scene from a 16th or 17th century German bible. The engraving depicts the Battle of the Wood of Ephraim from the books of Samuel. The scene is that of King David's generals forcibly preventing him from leaving the city to command his army in battle against his rebellious third son Prince Absalom. On the reverse is blackletter gothic script used from the middle ages to the end of the 17th century.
