Early Aafa Antique Folk Art Original Apothecary Cabinet From 1880 Cigar Crates

  

EARLY AAFA ANTIQUE FOLK ART ORIGINAL APOTHECARY CABINET FROM 1880 CIGAR CRATES. Up for sale is this wonderful twelve-drawer apothecary cabinet. It has 12 equal sized drawers each with its own wooden pull. The color is a painted dark brown and its worn, has edge wear and the paint is scuffed.

The drawers are made from old cigar crates as you can see in the pictures. Some of the crates say "SEPT 1880 UNION-MADE CIGARS". This was a common things to do in the Depression Era and may give a better idea of the age of this little guy! We don't know the age of this cabinet but it looks old to us! The cabinet measures 19.5 inches high and 19.75 inches wide and 9.5 inches deep.

The drawers are 5-1/8" W x 8.75" D x 3-3/8 H inside. The cabinet has legs that hold the drawers up just slightly (1.5) off the desk. There are two little loops on the back that you can use to hang the cabinet up. The back is made 6 boards and old rusty round nails. There is a hole in the back as you can see in the picture.

The drawers are painted on the outside face only and are unpainted on the inside. It is a wonderful and one of a kind item! There are nicks, scrapes, dings, edgewear, paint loss, cracks in the wood (but stable) and worn paint as you can see in the pictures but nothing you wouldn't expect from an item of this age.
