Handsome Art Deco style high wingback lounge chair with loads of detail. It retains its original tag from John M. And, its original beautiful upholstery which is still beautiful today. It is in wonderful vintage condition even after all these years. Just look at the gorgeous detail on this Art Deco style lounge chair!!! This is not your average wingback. This chair was definitely meant to float out in the middle of a room and not be hidden with its back to the wall. Comprised of a light toned wood frame which borders the chair back and arms and makes up the round base and flared legs. The back legs blend with the frame and run all the way up the back to the top rail and flare outward and back. They are joined by three cross rails. These details are simply stunning. More detail comes with the delicate carving on the front legs and apron.

The lines of this unusual chair are very sinuous. Im reminded more of couture than furnishings. The golden yellow original upholstery is still beautiful after close to 60-70 years.

However, I can imagine this in an awesome new mohair or velvet. I always think it is fun to know some history on vintage pieces. Unfortunately, according to the son, in a corner against the wall, its beautiful back never to be seen. Smyth Company long time Chicago staple which was founded in 1867. At one time they occupied a complete block called John M. Smyth Block on West Madison Street. Today the Kennedy Expressway goes right through where the store was located. Their family ownership spanned three generations. And, aside from Marshall Field, John M.

Smyth is one of the names synonymous with Chicago retailing. They severed all family ties to the store in 1994. And, in 2005, after nearly 140 years, the last store closed. This awesome Art Deco style wingback lounge chair and all its history should be yours.
