An Old Dayak Kenya Mandau Parang Ilang sword from Borneo Kalimantan early 20th c
An Old Dayak Kenya Mandau Parang Ilang sword from Borneo Kalimantan early 20th c. An original headhunter sword from the Kenya tribes of Central Borneo. The Mandau or locally named Parang Ilang has a fine blade which has a concave side on the right and convex on the left. The hilt is made of bone and depicts fine Aso motif carving. The scabbard is decorated with rattan bands and Dayak carving.
The hilt and scabbard both have horsehair decoration. Dating: First half 20th century. Blade: 51.3cm Hilt: 16.4cm.
