African Tribal Art Kuba/M'boom/Bwoom Mwaash Royal Mask Original from the DRC
Collected by me in Lubumbashi in the DRC (Zaire) some years ago. It is delicate and does show its age while still an exceptional piece This mask has a bulbous forehead and an under slung jaw with a decorated beard. Copper ornaments on the forehead, nose, and the mouth. The mask is nicely decorated with cowrie shells and beads.
It has a lot of presence and its overall condition is very good, though age related. Royal masks such as these are eagerly sought-after by collectors and museums. I have recently moved to the United Kingdom and have found that my collection of African Art has to downsize - hence the sale.
